When does active sleep stop?

My daughter is almost a year old, and she still moves around a lot when she sleeps. I remember her paediatrician mentioning 'active sleep' when she was a newborn. At what age does active sleep stop in babies?

Active sleep, or REM sleep, doesn't actually stop entirely. It's a fundamental part of our sleep cycle throughout life. What changes is the proportion of time we spend in REM sleep, which is much higher in infants and gradually decreases with age. Consulting a sleep specialist can clarify concerns about sleep stages.

Active sleep is part of our normal sleep, always there. For babies it's more, for adults less. Just ensure you are getting enough good quality sleep, as sleep directly affects blood sugar levels. A consistent routine helps me.

Active sleep is a natural part of everyone's night. It doesn't stop, it just becomes a smaller percentage of total sleep as you age. The main thing is to ensure you get enough hours of undisturbed sleep every night. That's more important.

Active sleep is just a phase of sleep that continues. It doesn't stop. Maybe you're asking about baby sleep? For adults, proper sleep hygiene like a dark room and no screen time before bed helps. If you have major sleep issues, a doctor is best.

Active sleep is REM sleep, and it's a part of everyone's sleep cycle, it doesn't 'stop'. The duration and intensity might change with age, but it remains. Focus on getting consistent, good quality sleep; that's more critical than worrying about one specific phase stopping.

Like, active sleep is just when you're dreaming and stuff, right? It doesn't just stop. We always have it, just babies have a lot more. My psych prof said it's super important for your brain to process stuff. So it's good it doesn't stop!

Active sleep toh bachpan se rehta hai na? It doesn't stop, ho na. Just amount changes as we grow up. For adults also it's there. My grandma always says achchi neend important hai. So, no stopping for it.

Oh, I thought active sleep was just for babies when they twitch in their sleep. So it's always there, just less? What causes it to decrease then?

I track my sleep with my smartwatch, and it always shows REM sleep, which is active sleep. So it never fully stops for adults, though the cycles are different compared to infants. If your sleep stages are off, maybe check your sleep hygiene first.

Stop? Mere liye toh active sleep is when I'm chasing a deadline in my dreams! 😂 It's always there, just less as we get older and more stressed. I wish it would 'stop' less and give me more peaceful sleep. Maybe then I'd feel less tired!
