When do newborns start to sleep through the night?

My baby is 3 months old now, and I'm still getting up every few hours. Everyone keeps talking about babies 'sleeping through the night'. When do newborns actually start doing that, because I'm dreaming of a full night's sleep!

Sleeping through the night, as in 6-8 hours, usually happens between 4 to 6 months for most babies. It's a big milestone for parents to finally get some rest! Don't forget to keep up your own energy levels with good nutrition and a little movement when you can.

Typically, babies start sleeping 6-8 hours continuously at night around 4-6 months of age. This depends on their growth and weight gain. If your baby isn't reaching these milestones or you have concerns, always get it checked by your paediatrician for safety.

As a working mom, I can tell you to expect 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep from your newborn typically around 4-6 months. Don't stress if it takes longer, every baby is different. Focus on a solid bedtime routine, and try to catch naps whenever possible.

My doctor at Apollo Hospital told us that 'sleeping through the night' usually means a 6-8 hour stretch, and most healthy babies can achieve this between 4 to 6 months of age, once they're feeding well and gaining weight. Always best to confirm with your own paediatrician.

It's a big question for all new mothers. Usually, babies can manage to sleep 6-8 hours straight by 4 to 6 months, as their feeding needs become less frequent. My grandmother used to say a warm oil bath helps, but my doctor always emphasized a good feeding schedule and safe sleep practices.
