When did diabetes start to rise?

My doctor warned me about the rising cases of diabetes, especially in our country. It feels like almost everyone I know has it or knows someone who does. When did this increase in diabetes cases actually start happening?

Oh, it feels like it really took off in the last 20-30 years, doesn't it? Probably around the same time my waistline started expanding, haha. All the processed food and less movement, I guess.

The significant rise in diabetes cases, especially Type 2, started becoming very noticeable from the late 20th century onwards. It's often linked to changes in diet, increased consumption of processed foods, and more sedentary lifestyles. That's why I'm always so careful about what I eat and my sugar intake.

My mother always tells me that in her youth, diabetes was not as common. It seems to have risen quite a lot in the last few decades, probably due to our changing food habits and less physical activity. But for any health concerns, it's always best to follow your doctor's advice carefully.

Hey! It definitely feels like it started rising a lot more in recent decades, like maybe 80s-90s onwards? All the junk food and sitting jobs, right? Don't stress too much, just try to eat healthy and keep moving, ya know?

Yeah, it feels like all my uncles and aunties got it in the last 10-15 years. Everyone's eating more packaged stuff and working from home now, so less walking. Makes sense it's gone up, I guess.
