When can infants sleep on their belly?

My sister says her baby started sleeping on their stomach around 6 months, but my pediatrician said only on the back. When is it actually safe for infants to sleep on their belly? I just want to ensure my baby is safe.

After what I went through, I am very cautious about all baby safety. It's highly recommended that babies always sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of SIDS. You should not let them sleep on their belly until they can roll over independently from back to front and front to back. Please discuss this with your pediatrician to be absolutely sure about your baby's specific situation.

As a working parent, every minute counts, but baby safety is non-negotiable. The clear guideline is 'back to sleep.' Infants should be placed on their backs for all naps and nighttime sleep. They can sleep on their belly only when they are strong enough to roll over consistently in both directions without assistance. No shortcuts here, better safe than sorry.

This is a serious safety question for infants. The absolute safest way for a baby to sleep is on their back to prevent SIDS. They should only be allowed to sleep on their belly if they are old enough to roll over consistently from back to stomach and stomach to back on their own. Please, always confirm with your pediatrician for peace of mind.

My pediatrician was very thorough about this. She said that infants should *always* be placed on their back to sleep to significantly reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Tummy sleeping is only considered safe once the baby has developed the strength and coordination to consistently roll over from back to front and front to back independently. Until then, back is the only safe position for sleep.

Haan, this is an important one. Na, don't put small babies on their pet (tummy) to sleep, it's not safe. Doc log bolte hain always back pe hi sulana chahiye. Jab woh khud se palatne lag jayein, matlab back se tummy aur tummy se back, tab thoda theek hai. But start always with back.

My son always wanted to sleep on his belly, but our doctor was very clear: always put babies on their back to sleep. They can sleep on their belly *only* once they can consistently roll over both ways by themselves. Until then, it's a firm no, for their safety. Don't take any chances, please.
