What would disqualify you from donating a kidney?

I'm thinking of donating a kidney to a relative who needs one. I want to make sure I'm eligible, so what are some of the health conditions or factors that would disqualify someone from donating a kidney?

Donating a kidney is a big decision, and they have very strict criteria for the donor's safety. Generally, conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, active cancer, serious heart disease, or HIV would disqualify someone. They do a thorough evaluation to ensure both the donor and recipient are safe. It's a complex process.

For kidney donation, any chronic health issue needs to be carefully evaluated. For example, if I had uncontrolled thyroid issues, that would likely be a disqualifier, as it indicates an underlying health concern. They need donors to be in peak health. Regular tests and full transparency with the doctors are essential for such a procedure.

I've explored many health topics, and for something as serious as organ donation, you really cannot rely on anything but expert medical advice. Conditions that affect your own kidney health or overall systemic health, like serious infections or a history of cancer, would prevent you. It's all about ensuring the donor remains healthy too.

My friend wanted to donate, but he couldn't because he had high blood pressure. They said any major health problem like diabetes, heart issues, or even some types of cancer would disqualify you. They do a really thorough checkup to make sure you're super healthy.

I looked into donating a kidney for my uncle, so I know a bit about this. They do extensive tests. High BP, diabetes, or any kind of kidney disease for you would immediately disqualify you. Even being overweight or having certain autoimmune conditions can be a no-go. They are super careful, which is good.
