What vitamins are good for thyroid?

I recently had my thyroid checked, and it's not quite balanced. My doctor suggested dietary adjustments. What vitamins are generally considered good for supporting thyroid function? I want to make sure I'm taking the right things.

I totally get how confusing it can be to figure out what's best for thyroid health. It's a delicate balance! While selenium, zinc, and B vitamins are often talked about as being supportive, it's super important to remember that these are usually complementary to your prescribed medication. Always discuss any supplements with your endocrinologist first.

Thyroid issues are really common these days, it makes me a bit anxious. I've heard about selenium and iodine being important, but also that too much iodine can be bad. Does anyone else get confused by all this conflicting information? What do your doctors generally recommend?

Dealing with thyroid issues can be so emotionally draining, I really feel you. It's not just about the physical symptoms but also the mental fog and fatigue. While people mention selenium and zinc, please consult your doctor. They can run tests and tell you exactly what deficiencies you might have, rather than just guessing. It really helped me feel more in control.

Thyroid tests and meds can get expensive, so planning carefully is important. Before buying any vitamins, get your levels checked properly – TSH, T3, T4, and also check for deficiencies in Vitamin D, B12, selenium, zinc. Then, your doctor can advise if any supplements are truly needed, rather than spending extra money unnecessarily. Always smart to check first.

Beti, thyroid ki dikkat bahut logon ko hai aaj kal. Doctor jo dawa dete hain, woh toh leni hi chahiye. Sath mein, suna hai ki iodine aur selenium wale khane achhe hote hain. Par bina doctor se poochhe kuch mat lena, haan? Apne sehat ka dhyan rakho.

My mom has thyroid. Her doc always emphasizes regular medication and then also checks her Vitamin D and B12 levels. She takes supplements for those if needed. Never heard him say specific 'thyroid vitamins' other than that. So get your levels checked and follow the doctor.

Ho na, thyroid mein bahut care lagti hai. My masi also has it. Doc always says medication is first. Then, they check for Vitamin D and B12 deficiencies. Sometimes selenium is suggested too. But always with the doctor's approval, haan na? Don't experiment yourself.

From a practical standpoint, for thyroid health, ensuring adequate intake of iodine (but not excessive), selenium, zinc, and B vitamins (especially B12) is often discussed. Many thyroid patients are found to be deficient in Vitamin D as well. However, it's crucial to consult an endocrinologist before starting any supplements, as imbalances can sometimes worsen the condition or interact with medication.

I had hypothyroidism and was constantly searching for 'what vitamins'. My endocrinologist put me on Levothyroxine and also checked my Vitamin D and B12. I was deficient in both, so I took supplements for those. Honestly, focusing on the main medication and fixing identified deficiencies was what truly helped, not some magic thyroid vitamin. Get tested thoroughly.
