What type of cancer causes folic acid deficiency?

I recently had some blood tests, and my doctor mentioned my folic acid levels were a bit low. He asked about my diet, but I eat pretty well. I'm just curious, can any serious underlying conditions like certain cancers impact folic acid absorption or cause a deficiency?

Some types of cancer treatment or the cancer itself can interfere with folic acid absorption. Best to ask a doc for exact details.

Honestly, when I was going through my treatment, my folic acid levels dipped really low. My doctor explained it was because of how the cancer affected my bone marrow and also the meds were interfering. They gave me supplements and it helped a lot.

Initially, when I saw my report with low folic acid, I totally panicked and started thinking the worst. But my doctor said it can be due to many things, including lifestyle or other underlying issues, not just cancer. Get it checked properly before stressing, okay?

I can understand the concern. Many things can cause low folic acid, not just serious illnesses. I tried incorporating more leafy greens and lentils in my diet when my levels were a bit low. But for a definitive answer related to cancer, you really need to consult a doctor. They can run specific tests.

Dekho, folic acid deficiency can be linked to cancers that affect your gut or bone marrow, or even the heavy treatments. But don't jump to conclusions, haan? Get proper tests done and consult a specialist, they will tell you exactly what's what.
