What type of cancer causes back pain?

My mother has been experiencing persistent back pain for several months, and it's not improving with regular painkillers. We're getting a bit concerned now. Can back pain sometimes be a symptom of a more serious condition, like a specific type of cancer?

Back pain is super common, and often it's just muscle strain or bad posture, not something serious. But if it's persistent and unusual, some cancers, like lung, breast, prostate, or kidney cancer, can spread to the spine and cause back pain. Even multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, can cause bone pain. Definitely get it checked by a doc if it's not going away.

Back pain can be a symptom for many things, but some cancers, especially those that metastasize to the bones like breast, lung, or prostate cancer, can cause it. Even some blood cancers. It's crucial to distinguish it from regular back pain. Eating nutritious food and maintaining a healthy weight also helps overall, but for a specific symptom like this, a doctor's visit is paramount.

Oh my god, back pain and cancer? This is exactly the kind of thing that sends my anxiety through the roof! I get back pain sometimes, but how do you even know if it's normal or something serious? Does anyone else get scared about these things? I read that some bone cancers or cancers that spread to bones can cause it.

Back pain can be a symptom of various cancers that have spread to the spine or originate in the bones, such as lung, breast, prostate, kidney, or multiple myeloma. It's important to consult a doctor if the pain is persistent, severe, or accompanied by other concerning symptoms.

While most back pain is musculoskeletal, certain cancers, particularly those that metastasize to the spine, can certainly cause it. Common primary cancers include breast, lung, prostate, and kidney. Also, primary bone cancers or multiple myeloma can present with back pain. The key is to look for 'red flag' symptoms: pain that's worse at night, unexplained weight loss, fever, or pain that doesn't improve with rest. If you have these, see a doctor promptly.

Ah, back pain, my old friend. Most of the time it's just my body telling me I'm not 20 anymore. But yeah, if it's persistent, dull, or doesn't improve with rest, then you should worry a bit. Cancers that spread to the bones, like from lung or prostate, can cause it. Also, some bone cancers directly. It's always a good idea to let a doctor check, rather than guess.
