What to write in a journal for mental health?

My therapist suggested I start journaling for my mental health, to help with stress. I've never really done it before, so I'm not sure what kind of things I should be writing about or how to even start. Any ideas for what to include?

Oh, a journal is like a good friend, beta. You can write anything in it – what made you happy, what made you sad, what you worry about. Just empty your heart onto the pages. No need for fancy words, just your true feelings. It brings peace, I tell you.

For mental health journaling, the key is consistency and honesty. You can write about your feelings, daily events, gratitude, or even process difficult thoughts. It's a safe space to vent without judgment. Consider prompts if you're stuck, but ultimately, it's about what helps you reflect and release.

Journaling saved me during a tough time. I used to write down everything: what made me anxious, what I was grateful for, even just my to-do list to clear my head. Don't overthink it, just write. The goal isn't perfect grammar, it's getting your thoughts out. You'll feel lighter, trust me.

Honestly, just dump whatever's in your head! No rules. I write about my college stress, what happened with friends, even just random thoughts. Sometimes I just doodle. It's a way to clear your brain without feeling judged. Super helpful, especially if you're feeling overwhelmed.

Journaling is so helpful when your mind feels full and anxious. Don't worry about writing 'correctly.' Just let your thoughts flow – what's bothering you, what you're grateful for, what you want to achieve. Even just describing your day can help organize your thoughts and reduce that overwhelmed feeling. It's for you.

A journal is a wonderful practice for the mind. You can write your worries, your hopes, or just what you did that day. Don't censor yourself. It helps you understand your own thoughts better. It's like talking to your own heart. It brings a lot of peace, I remember doing it when I was young too.
