What to say instead of lost battle with cancer?

A close family friend recently passed away after a long battle with cancer. We want to express our condolences, but saying 'lost battle' feels a bit insensitive. What's a better way to phrase it to convey respect and comfort to the family?

Honestly, 'lost battle' always sounds so harsh. Maybe something like 'their fight came to an end' or 'they found peace after facing cancer with courage'. Even I'm sleep-deprived thinking of better ways, haha. But yeah, softer words are always better.

Instead of 'lost battle', you could say 'they passed away peacefully after a long illness' or 'their journey with cancer ended'. It sounds more respectful and less like a defeat. Focus on their life and peace, not a battle won or lost.

Haan na, 'lost battle' feels a bit negative. You can say 'they succumbed to cancer' or 'they are no longer with us after their struggle with cancer'. It's more gentle, ho na? Focus on the person, not just the disease.

My son, words have power. When someone passes after such an illness, we should speak with respect. You can say 'they attained peace after their suffering with cancer' or 'they left us after a long illness'. It shows respect for their life, not just the disease. May their soul rest in peace.

It's really thoughtful of you to ask this. Instead of framing it as a 'loss,' you could say 'they found peace after their brave journey with cancer' or simply 'they passed away after living with cancer.' It honours their strength without implying defeat. Be gentle with your words, it means a lot.

The language we use holds energy. Instead of 'lost battle', perhaps 'they completed their earthly journey after facing cancer' or 'they transitioned peacefully from their physical form'. It acknowledges the struggle but focuses on the soul's peace, not a defeat. Keep breathing, keep compassion in your words.

I agree, 'lost battle' isn't ideal. It makes it sound like they didn't try hard enough. You could say 'they passed away due to complications from cancer' or 'their body couldn't fight anymore'. It's important to remember they maintained their dignity throughout. And good nutrition definitely helps support the body during such times.
