My little son had a bad bout of diarrhea and vomiting last night, and he's still feeling very weak. I'm trying to rehydrate him, but what are the best things to give him to drink after something like that?

After diarrhea and vomiting, hydration is critical to restore fluids and electrolytes, which can affect BP if levels drop too low. Drink ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) or coconut water. Avoid sugary drinks or caffeine. Just like with BP, regular monitoring of your symptoms and consulting a doctor if it persists is important.
Straight up, ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) is your best friend. Sip it slowly and consistently. Coconut water is also a good natural alternative for electrolytes. Avoid milk, sugary juices, and caffeine. If you can't keep anything down for hours, or feel dizzy, go to the emergency room.
That's seriously the worst combo! I always get so anxious about getting dehydrated when this happens. Does anyone else feel like even water makes them want to vomit again? What's the trick to sipping without upsetting your stomach more?
I just went through this last week! The only thing that saved me was ORS. My doctor said to mix one packet in a liter of water and just sip it throughout the day. I also had some clear vegetable broth when I felt a tiny bit better. Definitely avoid anything oily or spicy for a few days.
Oh no, that sounds awful. I always get confused about what to drink. Is plain water enough, or do we really need those special rehydration drinks? And for how long should we stick to liquids only?

When you've had diarrhea and vomiting, your body loses a lot of fluids and essential salts. Rehydration with ORS or coconut water is critical. Just be cautious, don't overdo it with sugary drinks as they can worsen diarrhea. If symptoms are severe or don't improve quickly, please see a doctor. It's always better to be safe.
Don't panic! It feels really bad when you have both. I used to worry so much. The best thing is ORS, truly. Just sip it slowly, like one spoonful every few minutes. Don't gulp. Plain water is okay but ORS replenishes salts better. You'll feel weak, but keep hydrating, and it usually passes.
