What to do with excess skin after weight loss?

I've lost a significant amount of weight, which I'm happy about, but now I have a lot of loose skin, especially around my stomach and arms. It's affecting my confidence. What are the options available to deal with excess skin after weight loss?

Oh, this is something I've been curious about as well! I've seen some people talk about it after significant weight loss. It must be tough to feel so good about losing weight but then deal with that. I wonder if there are non-surgical ways too, or if surgery is the only real option for a smooth look.

I can imagine how frustrating that must be after putting in all that hard work to lose weight. It's totally valid to feel a bit anxious or disappointed about the excess skin. Don't let it undermine your amazing achievement. There are options, but it's okay to take your time to explore them.

Did anyone else experience this after losing a lot of weight? I'm worried if I lose more, I'll have this problem too. It seems like a new challenge after overcoming the first one. What did you guys do about it, like, does it tighten up eventually, or is surgery really the only way?

Excess skin is a normal consequence of significant weight loss, especially when done quickly or after a certain age. While some elasticity returns, typically for larger amounts, surgical removal (body contouring) is the most effective solution. Consult a plastic surgeon; they can explain all the pros and cons and what to expect.

This is definitely something you need to discuss with a specialized doctor, ideally a plastic surgeon who deals with post-bariatric or post-weight loss body contouring. When you meet them, be clear about your concerns and what results you expect. Ask about recovery time, costs, and potential risks too. Good hospitals will have experienced surgeons for this.

While diet is crucial for weight loss, it won't directly remove excess skin. However, a diet rich in collagen-boosting nutrients (like Vitamin C, zinc, and protein) might help skin elasticity to some extent, though for significant loose skin, medical intervention is usually needed. Focus on overall skin health, but manage expectations.

I totally get it, you've achieved something amazing by losing weight, and now this new challenge arises. It must feel a bit unfair. Just know that your body has done incredible work. Take your time to explore options like surgery or specialized exercises, and prioritize how you feel about your body. You deserve to feel good.

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss journey! That's a huge achievement. Regarding the excess skin, it's a common outcome. Just like with managing BP, where lifestyle changes and regular checkups are key, you'll need to consult a specialist to understand your options, which might include surgery. Don't lose heart, you've done the hard part!

Haan, this excess skin is a real problem after weight loss. I tried so many creams and massages, hoping it would tighten up, but honestly, for significant loose skin, home remedies don't do much. You've worked so hard; consider talking to a doctor about body contouring options. It's a big decision, but it might give you the final push you need to feel fully confident.

After losing almost 40 kgs, I also had quite a bit of loose skin, especially on my stomach and arms. I tried exercises, but for the amount I had, it wasn't enough. I ended up getting a tummy tuck and arm lift last year. The recovery was tough, but I'm really happy with the results now. Consult a good surgeon, they will give you the best advice for your specific case.
