What to do when dandruff shampoo doesn't work?

I've been using anti-dandruff shampoos for months now, trying different brands, but nothing seems to work. My scalp is still itchy and flaky, and it's really embarrassing. Is there anything else I can try, or some home remedy that might actually help?

If dandruff shampoo isn't working, it might not just be regular dandruff. Sometimes skin issues, or even underlying conditions, can cause flaky scalp. I always make sure to get my thyroid levels checked regularly because hormonal imbalances can affect skin and hair. So, if it persists, maybe consult a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis.

Many times, what people think is just dandruff could be seborrheic dermatitis, or even a fungal infection. Over-the-counter shampoos have certain active ingredients like ketoconazole or selenium sulfide, but if those aren't effective, a dermatologist can prescribe stronger options or oral medication. Proper diagnosis is key here.

Okay, if your dandruff shampoo isn't cutting it, it's time for a dermatologist. Period. There are stronger prescription-strength shampoos or other treatments available. Don't waste time trying every 'miracle cure' online, just get professional help.

It's common for some dandruff treatments not to work for everyone, as the underlying cause can vary. Trying different anti-dandruff shampoos with various active ingredients might be an option. However, if it's severe or persistent, consulting a dermatologist is definitely the best approach. They can correctly diagnose the issue and recommend a tailored treatment plan.

Oh no, persistent dandruff can be so annoying and embarrassing, I'd probably be overthinking if it was something serious! What if it's not just dandruff, but some fungal thing or an allergic reaction? My advice would be to get it checked by a skin specialist, just to be on the safe side and calm your mind. Don't stress too much though, it's probably fixable.
