What to do after a stroke?

My father suffered a stroke a few weeks ago and he's slowly recovering. The doctors have given some instructions but I want to know if there's anything else we should be doing to ensure he gets better and doesn't face any complications.

Please, please make sure you're following everything your doctor says. My uncle had a stroke, and though he recovered, some complications came up later because he wasn't diligent with his follow-ups. Regular check-ups are non-negotiable for real.

Beyond what the docs say, there are some good apps that can help track progress and manage meds reminders. My grandad used one called Medisafe for his meds, and a few others help with light exercises. Ask your physio if they recommend any specific ones for rehab.

Food plays a very big role, especially if there are underlying conditions like diabetes or high BP. My doctor always stresses on low-sodium, low-sugar options. Avoid anything processed. Simple ghar ka khana is always best for recovery and overall health.

Initially, it feels like the end of the world, no? I remember panicking about every little thing after my uncle had a stroke. But with time, proper rehab, and family support, things do get to a new normal. Just be patient and consistent with the therapy.

Honestly, the emotional toll after a stroke is huge, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. I struggled with anxiety and frustration for a long time. Don't hesitate to talk to someone, a therapist or even just close family, it helps to process everything.

Oh god, this topic makes me so anxious, I always overthink things! But after a stroke, I've heard the most important thing is sticking to the rehabilitation exercises and diet. Don't miss even one session, it all adds up. And report any new symptoms to your doc immediately.

After a certain age, it feels like our bodies are just sending us new challenges every day, eh? A stroke is a big one. But with good doctors and a lot of patience (from you and your family), you can definitely manage. Don't lose hope. Just keep showing up for yourself.

Physical activity, even light, guided exercises, can do wonders for recovery. And diet-wise, focusing on whole foods, lots of fruits, veggies, and lean protein really helps. It’s about creating a sustainable, healthy lifestyle, not just a quick fix.

Completely agree with everyone here. Consistency in therapy and medication is key. Also, having a good support system makes a huge difference.

Haan, post-stroke life can be like trying to navigate a new video game without a tutorial. Lots of trial and error! But seriously, just follow the doctors, do your physio even when you don't feel like it, and don't try to lift an elephant. Small steps, big recovery!
