What to bring to a sleep study?

My doctor has recommended a sleep study because I've been struggling with insomnia for a while. I've never done one before. What kind of things should I bring with me to a sleep study appointment?

Bring comfortable pajamas, your regular toiletries, any medications you take (with instructions), and a book or something to relax with. They usually provide blankets and pillows, but if you prefer your own, check if it's allowed. Don't forget your ID and insurance papers.

Beyond the basics like PJs and toiletries, think about comfort. Maybe a light workout or walk during the day before the study, if your doctor says it's okay, can help you feel more tired. But don't overdo it. You want to simulate a normal night.

Oh god, I'd be so anxious about remembering everything! Definitely bring your most comfy pajamas, a favorite pillow if they allow it (check first!), all your medications, and something to read or listen to before bed to help you relax. Don't forget your phone charger and any important documents. Just breathe, it'll be okay!

For a sleep study, you should always get a clear list from the sleep lab or your referring doctor. Generally, it includes your daily medications, comfortable sleepwear, personal toiletries, and any comfort items like a favorite pillow if allowed. A good hospital will provide you with a comprehensive checklist.

When my son went for his sleep study, we packed his favorite soft blanket and a storybook. For adults, I'd say comfy PJs, all your usual night-time toiletries, any regular medicines, and a good book or e-reader. Also, a water bottle! The most important is to feel as comfortable as possible.

Okay, so besides the obvious PJs, I'd sneak in some healthy snacks just in case I get late-night hunger pangs, though they might have rules against that! Otherwise, your toothbrush, a book (no screens before bed!), and maybe some comfy socks. Think comfort, like you're going for a chill overnight stay, not a hospital!
