What test is used for diagnosis of diabetes?

I recently had a routine check-up, and my blood sugar levels were a bit elevated. My doctor wants me to get further testing. What test is specifically used for the diagnosis of diabetes?

It's completely normal to feel anxious when wondering about something like diabetes. But it's good you're asking! For diagnosis, doctors commonly use a Fasting Plasma Glucose test, an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), or an HbA1c test. Just go to a doctor, they will explain everything and make you feel better.

For diabetes diagnosis, they usually do a Fasting Plasma Glucose test or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). My child also went through these. Sometimes an HbA1c test is also done, which shows average blood sugar over a few months. It's better to get all checked.

To diagnose diabetes, the main tests are Fasting Plasma Glucose, Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, and HbA1c. These tests give a clear picture. Eating a balanced vegetarian diet and avoiding processed foods can help manage blood sugar, but for diagnosis, these blood tests are crucial.

I manage my diabetes, so I know these tests well. The common ones are Fasting Plasma Glucose, then the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test where you drink a sugary liquid. The HbA1c is also very useful as it shows your average sugar levels for the last few months. Please consult your doctor for proper testing and advice on diet.

For diagnosing diabetes, doctors usually recommend a Fasting Plasma Glucose test, or sometimes an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). The HbA1c test is also very important for a longer-term view. Along with these, gentle yoga and pranayama can support your overall well-being. Consult your doctor first, dear.
