What temperature is bad fever?

My friend's child had a very high fever last night, which made him quite scared. I want to be prepared if something similar happens to my kids. What temperature is considered a bad fever?

For adults, a fever consistently above 103°F (39.4°C) is generally considered bad and warrants immediate medical attention. Don't self-diagnose. Go to a good hospital and get a proper diagnosis. Ask your doctor clearly what temperature should worry you specifically.

I used to freak out even at 101°F. But my doctor said a truly 'bad' fever, one that needs immediate intervention, is typically above 103°F (39.4°C). Anything consistently over that, especially with other severe symptoms, is a red flag. So don't panic for every small rise, but be vigilant.

This is what worries me the most! What's the exact 'bad' temperature? My doctor said anything above 103°F (39.4°C) for an adult is serious, and definitely seek medical help. Does anyone else get super anxious when their fever goes even a little high?

A fever that's considered 'bad' for adults is usually consistently above 103°F (39.4°C), especially if it doesn't come down with medication or if you have severe symptoms. With PCOS, we need to be extra mindful of any body changes, so it's always best to consult your doctor if you're concerned about a high fever.

My health app actually flags anything above 102°F (38.9°C) as high, but a 'bad' or dangerous fever typically starts consistently above 103°F (39.4°C). If it goes that high, especially with other severe symptoms, you need medical attention. My tracker would alert me then.

A 'bad' fever is any fever that stops me from getting my precious sleep! 😩 Kidding, mostly. But officially, if it's staying above 103°F (39.4°C) and you feel terrible, that's definitely doctor-worthy. I'd probably be hallucinating by then anyway.

If it's consistently above 103°F (39.4°C), that's a bad fever for an adult. Don't mess around with it. Get to a doctor or hospital. It's a clear indicator that something more serious is going on.

A 'bad' fever for adults is usually anything that's 103°F (39.4°C) or higher and doesn't respond to home care. Please take good care and seek medical help if it gets that high.
