What supplements can cause elevated liver enzymes?

During my recent blood test, my liver enzymes were a bit higher than normal. My doctor asked if I'm taking any new supplements. What supplements are known to cause elevated liver enzymes?

Honestly, my doctor explained this to me recently when my enzymes were slightly high. She said common ones like certain weight loss supplements, high doses of Vitamin A, and even some herbal blends (like Kava or Comfrey) can sometimes mess with liver enzymes. Best to always check ingredients and talk to a doc before starting anything new.

Hey there! 👋 I remember my gym buddy saying that some of those pre-workout and muscle-building supplements can sometimes be heavy on the liver. He had to stop one after his doctor found some issues. So be careful with anything super strong! 👍

Oh, this is something I've been wondering about too. I heard that even some common multivitamins, if they have very high doses of certain things, can be a concern. Is that true, or am I misunderstanding? I'm trying to be more careful with what I take.

Don't panic! Mere saath bhi hua tha. I was taking a popular protein powder and some other stuff for a while, and my enzymes shot up. I freaked out, but the doctor just asked me to stop all supplements for a month, retested, and it was back to normal. Sometimes it's just a temporary reaction. But definitely get it checked.

As a vegetarian, I try to get most nutrients from food, but sometimes supplements are needed. I've read that some herbal ones, marketed for detox or weight loss, can be risky for the liver if not taken properly or if they have unknown ingredients. Always check for proper certifications, I'd say.

I can only speak from my experience, but when I took a certain B-complex vitamin for energy, my liver enzymes were slightly high on my annual checkup. My doctor just asked me to pause it and retest. It eventually normalized, but it showed me that even 'safe' things can have an effect. So always tell your doctor everything you're taking.

Many supplements can affect liver enzymes. Best to discuss with your doctor about any you are taking.
