What supplements are bad for kidneys and liver?

My father has some kidney issues, and we need to be very careful about what he consumes. He's thinking of starting some general health supplements. Which supplements are considered bad for kidneys and liver, so we can avoid them?

Honestly, almost any supplement can be bad if taken in excess or if you already have underlying conditions. Herbal supplements especially can be tricky because their dosage isn't always regulated. It's always best to consult a doctor before starting anything new, especially with kidneys and liver being so vital.

This is such an important question! My aunt had some issues because she was taking too many different things thinking they were 'natural' and good for her. We found out later that some of those high-dose vitamins and obscure herbal mixes can really put a strain on your organs. Please be careful and check with a doc.

I've been reading a lot about this because my dad takes a bunch of supplements. Many articles mention that certain unregulated weight loss supplements and those with unlisted ingredients can be quite harmful. Also, high amounts of Niacin can sometimes affect the liver. It's confusing to navigate everything online!

Oh man, I went through something similar! My liver enzymes shot up and the doc traced it back to a 'detox' supplement I was taking. Turns out, things like high-dose Vitamin A, iron, and some bodybuilding supplements can be very harsh. Definitely get blood tests done before and during if you feel you need supplements.

Great question! 🤔 Generally, very high doses of fat-soluble vitamins (like A, D, E, K) can be an issue for the liver if overdone. And some strong herbal cleanses too. Always better to get your nutrients from food first, no? 🍎🥦 Stay safe! ✨

Honestly, after pulling all-nighters, I feel like even breathing can be bad for my organs lol. But seriously, I've heard some protein powders and 'pre-workouts' can be heavy on the kidneys if you don't hydrate enough. Best to stick to real food and water whenever possible, I guess. My doc keeps telling me that too.
