What side is kidney pain?

I've been having this dull ache in my back for a few days now, and someone mentioned it could be kidney related. I'm trying to figure out if it's actually kidney pain, so which side would it typically be on?

Kidney pain is typically felt in the flank area, which is on either side of your spine in your mid-to-lower back, depending on which kidney is affected. Because kidney infections or stones can escalate rapidly, please get a urine test and an ultrasound done for safety.

I had a dull ache on my left flank for weeks and ignored it, thinking it was just a muscle catch. It turned out to be a large kidney stone that blocked the urine flow, and I had to undergo surgery. Please go and get a proper checkup done immediately if you feel pain on either side of your lower back.

I have this deep ache on my right flank and I am terrified that it might be a kidney infection. Does kidney pain feel like a constant pressure, or is it more of a sharp pain that comes and goes? Has anyone else felt this same anxiety?

Kidney pain usually hits on either the left or right side of your upper back, under the ribs, and can feel like a deep, persistent ache. While drinking plenty of coconut water and barley water can help flush out tiny crystals, you must see a doctor if the pain is severe or accompanied by fever.

My roommate had this last semester and he was clutching either side of his lower back in intense pain. It can be on the left or right flank depending on which side has the issue. If you're hurting bad, don't sit in the hostel room, just go to the campus clinic.
