What side are you supposed to sleep on when pregnant?

I'm in my second trimester, and everyone keeps giving me different advice about sleeping positions. My mother-in-law insists on sleeping on the left side. What side are you really supposed to sleep on when pregnant?

I am in my first trimester and everyone is giving me different advice about this. My mother-in-law said only the left side is safe. Is that really true, or is right side also okay sometimes? I get very anxious thinking I will roll over in my sleep.

Do not take too much stress on your mind during this beautiful phase, beta. Sleeping on the left side is definitely good as it helps the little soul get all the nourishment, but keep your mind happy and calm. Take a few deep breaths before sleeping.

Left side sleeping is a lifesaver, especially after those late-night spicy golgappa cravings! It keeps the acidity in check so you don't wake up with heartburn. Trust me, prop some pillows behind you and you can eat comfortably and sleep peacefully.

Honestly, my wife is pregnant and sleep is a myth in our house right now anyway. She tries the left side because doctors say so, but with the kicking and the constant urge to pee, she is just happy if she gets even two hours of continuous sleep in any position.

During my wife's pregnancy we had to be very careful because her blood pressure was on the higher side. The gynaecologist strictly monitored her lifestyle and advised sleeping on the left to maximize blood flow. Make sure you get your BP checked regularly during your routine visits.

My wife is in her second trimester and our doctor clearly told her to sleep on the left side to keep blood flowing properly to the baby. We bought one of those giant C-shaped pregnancy pillows from Amazon and it really helps her stay in that position without rolling.

I had two pregnancies and left side is absolutely the best, particularly in the later months as it improves circulation. Pro tip: put a soft pillow under your belly and another one between your knees. It takes the pressure off your lower back and hip joints completely.
