What should diabetics eat and not eat?

My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and we're completely lost about what he can and cannot eat. Can someone give a clear idea of what diabetics should eat and what they should avoid? It's all so confusing.

Please don't worry too much. Just focus on eating simple home-cooked food like oats, brown rice, and lots of green veggies. Try to avoid white sugar and bakery items as much as possible, it really helps keep things stable.

Beta, try to eat multigrain roti instead of simple wheat, and eat lots of green vegetables. Stay away from potatoes and sweet juices. God willing, your health will be very good, just eat on time.

Having a spoonful of methi seeds soaked in water every morning is very good for managing sugar levels. But remember, home remedies are only to support your body. If your sugar levels are shooting up high or you feel dizzy, pls run to your doctor immediately.

It is best to focus on complex carbohydrates like whole grains, lean proteins, and plenty of vegetables while avoiding processed sugary foods. However, diabetes is highly individual, so what works for one person might not work for you. Please consult a qualified clinical nutritionist or your diabetologist to get a personalized meal plan.

I deal with thyroid issues and my dad has diabetes, so I know how crucial regular testing is. Focus on a high-fiber, low-carb diet, but make sure you get your HbA1c checked every three months. Your doctor is the best person to adjust your insulin or medicine dose based on those reports.

Honestly, trying to manage my dad's sugar levels is keeping me up more than my late-night shifts. No more high sugar mangoes or white rice for him, now it is all about fiber and salads. It is so tough to say no to sweets, but we have to do what we have to do.
