What should a newborn sleep in clothes?

My baby is just a few weeks old, and I'm always worried about him getting too cold or too hot at night. What kind of clothes should a newborn sleep in, especially with the changing weather? My mother-in-law and my mum have different opinions.

Oh, I totally panicked about this with my first baby! You worry about them being too cold or too hot. But honestly, a good rule of thumb is to dress them in one more layer than you're comfortable in. If you're comfy in a tee, they might need a onesie and a light sleep sack. It became normal after a few weeks.

For a newborn, comfort and safety are key. Generally, a good quality cotton onesie or a sleepsuit is ideal, especially if you're using a swaddle or sleep sack. Avoid anything with loose ties or too many embellishments. Always check the back of their neck for warmth – if it's sweaty, they're too warm.

My dear, with babies, less is often more. In our times, we just put them in a soft cotton dress or a simple wrap. Nowadays they have many fancy sleepsuits. Just make sure it's breathable cotton, not too tight, and the room temperature is comfortable. Don't overdress, it's not good for them.

My cousin just had a baby and they were all stressing about this. From what I heard, it's usually just a soft cotton onesie, maybe a sleep sack on top if it's a bit chilly. Nothing too fancy or restricting. Just comfy, you know?

Namaste! My mother-in-law always says newborns need to be covered well, but our paediatrician told us to be careful not to overheat. We usually put our baby in a soft cotton full-sleeved onesie or a light sleepsuit. Always go with breathable fabrics. Trust your doctor's advice over old wives' tales for these things.
