What's the difference between type one and type 2 diabetes?

My doctor said I'm pre-diabetic, and I need to make some lifestyle changes. He mentioned Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, but I'm a bit confused about the distinction. Can someone explain the difference between Type one and Type 2 diabetes simply?

Haan, yeh toh bahut basic difference hai. Type 1 mein na, body insulin banati hi nahi hai, bachpan se hota hai mostly. Type 2 mein, body banati toh hai, par ya toh kam banati hai, ya use nahi kar paati achhe se. Toh management bhi alag alag hoti hai dono ki.

From what I've understood, Type 1 is when the body completely stops making insulin, it's often genetic and starts early. Type 2 is more common, happens later in life, and is when the body doesn't use insulin well. For Type 2, careful diet and walking daily can make a big difference, but for Type 1, insulin is always needed. Knowing the type helps with the right treatment plan.

Ah, the body's delicate balance. Type 1 diabetes is when the pancreas stops making insulin, often happening earlier in life. Type 2 is when the body doesn't use insulin effectively, which can be managed with mindful eating and activity like gentle yoga and pranayama. Both need a doctor's guidance, but the approach for management is quite distinct.

My doctor explained it to me last year when my sugar was high. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease, usually diagnosed young, where your body destroys insulin-producing cells. Type 2 is when your body isn't using insulin efficiently, and often develops in adults. I was diagnosed with pre-Type 2 and managed to reverse it with strict diet and exercise, but Type 1 is a different ball game, needing insulin.

This is a very important distinction, I agree! Type 1 means your body simply doesn't produce insulin, full stop. Type 2 means it produces some, but either not enough or your body doesn't respond to it properly. For Type 2, I've seen fenugreek seeds and bitter gourd juice help some people with diet control, but for Type 1, insulin is non-negotiable. Always, always confirm with a doctor which type it is.
