What's the difference between asthma and bronchitis?

My son has asthma, and sometimes when he gets a bad cough, people say it sounds like bronchitis. I'm a bit confused, are these two conditions the same or different? What's the difference between asthma and bronchitis?

Initially, I used to panic with any cough thinking it was asthma, but it was just bronchitis! Asthma is a chronic condition, like your airways are always a bit sensitive and can suddenly get narrow. Bronchitis is more often an infection or irritation that causes inflammation in your bronchial tubes, often after a cold. It's usually temporary. Don't worry too much, but good to know the difference.

I had a bad cough once, thought it was just a regular cold, but it got so bad I had complications. Turned out it was acute bronchitis that needed proper treatment. Asthma is chronic, while bronchitis can be acute or chronic, but usually starts as an infection. Always, always see a doctor if you have breathing difficulties. Don't take chances like I did.

When I go to Apollo or Nanavati, I always ask my doctor to explain things clearly. Asthma is a long-term condition that makes your airways sensitive and can cause wheezing. Bronchitis is inflammation of the tubes that carry air to your lungs, often from a virus, and usually resolves. They're related to the respiratory system but distinct. Ask your own doctor for a clear explanation for your case.

These are definitely two different things, beti. Asthma is a long-term condition where your airways can get inflamed and narrow, often triggered by certain things. Bronchitis is usually a temporary inflammation of your breathing tubes, often after a cold or flu. If you're having trouble breathing, please don't wait, see a doctor.

Both affect breathing but are quite different. Asthma is a chronic condition, often allergy-related, causing airways to narrow. Bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchial tubes, often due to an infection, and it's usually temporary. Dealing with PCOS has taught me to be cautious and not self-diagnose. It's best to consult a doctor for proper clarification.

Haan, log confuse ho jaate hain. Basically, asthma is a long-term thing, you know, allergies se ya pollution se trigger ho sakta hai, aur saans ki naliyan tight ho jaati hain. Bronchitis usually comes after a cold, viral infection se hota hai, aur cough bohot hota hai. Dono alag hain na.
