What percentage of smokers develop lung cancer?

My uncle has been smoking for many years, and we are all very worried about his health. We are trying to convince him to quit, and I want to understand the risks better. How common is lung cancer among smokers?

It's a serious question. The risk is significantly higher for smokers, but it's not 100%. Many factors play a role like duration and intensity of smoking. If someone you know smokes, encourage them to quit. It's the best thing they can do for their health.

While I don't know the exact percentage for lung cancer, what I do know is that early detection and regular check-ups are key for any health issue, just like with my thyroid. If there's a risk, keep an eye out and consult a doctor, don't wait.

It's natural to feel anxious when you hear about these things, especially if you or someone you know smokes. The numbers can be scary, but remember that quitting or never starting is the best prevention. Don't let the fear paralyze you, let it motivate you to make healthy choices.

Look, the statistics are definitely scary, but it's not a direct one-to-one thing for everyone. The important part is that smoking increases the risk drastically. If you're thinking about quitting, please do, it's worth it.
