What pain medication is not a nsaid?

My doctor advised me to avoid NSAIDs because of some stomach issues I have. Sometimes I get joint pain, and I need something to manage it. What pain medication is not an NSAID but still effective?

If you're looking for pain relief that isn't an NSAID (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug), then Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) is your primary option. It works differently by affecting pain receptors in the brain. Many fitness apps also recommend topical pain relief for localized pain, which aren't NSAIDs either. Always track your symptoms and consult a doctor for prolonged pain.

Just recovered from a sprain where I couldn't take NSAIDs. My doctor prescribed paracetamol (like Dolo 650) for pain relief. It doesn't reduce inflammation like NSAIDs do, but it definitely helps with the ache. You can also use topical pain relief gels which are usually not NSAIDs. Make sure to double check with your doctor though!

Beta, NSAID nahi chahiye toh paracetamol ki goli le sakte ho. Yeh dard kam karti hai par sujan nahi. Aur ghar pe, garam sek ya adrak wali chai bhi kabhi kabhi chote mote dard ke liye theek rehti hai. Lekin bade dard ke liye toh doctor ko hi dikhana, theek hai?

For kids, and often for adults who need to avoid NSAIDs, Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) is the most common and safest pain medication. It's good for fever and pain, but doesn't have the anti-inflammatory action of NSAIDs. We keep it at home for any minor aches or fevers our kids get. For anything serious, paediatrician is the go-to.

Oh, so like, you want something for pain but not like Brufen or something, right? Then paracetamol is the one, dude. It's pretty basic and helps with headaches and stuff without being an NSAID. We always have it in our hostel room, lol.

The most widely used pain medication that is not an NSAID is Acetaminophen, commonly known as Paracetamol. It primarily acts as an analgesic and antipyretic (fever reducer), but lacks the significant anti-inflammatory effects of NSAIDs. Other options might include certain opioid-based medications (prescription only) or topical analgesics. It is always best to consult a healthcare professional to choose the appropriate medication based on your specific needs and health conditions.

My doctor explained that for pain relief without the NSAID class, Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) is the primary choice. It works by blocking pain signals in the brain rather than reducing inflammation. They also mentioned topical preparations like capsaicin creams or lidocaine patches, which provide localized pain relief without systemic NSAID effects. For severe pain, opioid analgesics (prescription) would be considered, but that's a different category altogether.
