What noise helps you sleep?

I've been having trouble falling asleep lately, and a friend suggested trying some background noise. I'm curious what kind of noise is generally considered helpful for sleep. Does anyone have recommendations?

I've been reading a lot about this lately because my sleep cycle is totally ruined. Apparently, pink noise and brown noise are actually better than white noise because they have deeper sounds. I tried rain sounds last night and it actually helped me doze off faster.

For me, the sound of a steady ceiling fan is enough, but honestly, nothing beats physical tiredness. If your doctor allows, try adding a brisk 45-minute walk in the evening. It tires out the body naturally, and you won't even need any special sound machine to sleep.

I used to play white noise apps, but when my insomnia got worse, I consulted my sleep specialist at Kokilaben Hospital. They told me that while natural sounds are okay, relying too much on external noise can sometimes mask deeper issues. Better to get a professional opinion if you are struggling to sleep daily.

I literally can't sleep if there is absolute silence because then I start listening to my own heartbeat and panic. I use a brown noise app on my phone which sounds like a heavy waterfall. It really helps to quiet down all the anxious thoughts in my head so I can rest.

Agree with the rain sounds suggestion. Playing a gentle rain loop on low volume works wonders for my sleep anxiety.

I find white noise or soft instrumental music very calming. Good sleep is so crucial for keeping my morning blood sugar levels stable. Along with the soothing sounds, make sure you don't eat anything heavy or sugary right before bed.
