What moisturizer is good for eczema?

I've been dealing with eczema since childhood, and my skin gets really dry and itchy, especially in winter. I'm always looking for something that won't irritate it. Can anyone suggest a good moisturizer that really works for eczema-prone skin?

For eczema, you need something really gentle and fragrance-free. While diet plays a huge role in managing eczema from within (I prefer plant-based), for external care, I've heard doctors often recommend emollients like Episoft or Cetaphil. Avoid anything with harsh chemicals or strong smells. Try natural oils like coconut oil only if it suits you, otherwise stick to doctor's advice.

Oh, eczema is so stressful, I totally get it! I always overthink what creams to use. My dermatologist suggested emollients with ceramides, like Cetaphil Restoraderm or Bioderma Atoderm. They really help repair the skin barrier. But everyone's skin is different, so maybe try a small patch first? Don't stress too much, you'll find what works!

My dermatologist always advises patients with eczema to use thick, emollient-rich moisturizers that are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. Brands like Cetaphil, Aveeno Eczema Therapy, or Bioderma Atoderm are often recommended as they contain ceramides and colloidal oatmeal, which help restore the skin barrier. It's crucial to apply them frequently, especially after bathing, to lock in moisture.

For eczema, plain old Vaseline or white petroleum jelly works wonders for many, especially overnight. It's cheap and effective. Otherwise, I've seen people use Cetaphil lotion, it's pretty common and not too expensive. The main thing is to apply it consistently, like twice a day, and after a bath when skin is still damp.

I used to have mild eczema patches, and my doctor suggested using plain glycerin mixed with a little rose water as a natural moisturizer. It helped me personally without any irritation. But for serious eczema, please see a dermatologist, because what worked for me might not work for everyone, and I'm not a doctor.

Having dealt with eczema for years, I can tell you thick, unscented creams are your best friend. Look for ingredients like ceramides or colloidal oatmeal. Brands like Sebamed, Physiogel, or Cetaphil's heavier creams are usually good. Also, moisturize multiple times a day, not just once. Consistency is key to keeping the flare-ups at bay.
