What mimics a stroke but is not a stroke?

A relative had sudden weakness on one side of their body, and everyone panicked thinking it was a stroke, but it wasn't. I want to be informed. What medical conditions can perfectly mimic the signs of a stroke without actually being a stroke?

My doctor explained that conditions like severe hypoglycemia (very low blood sugar), complicated migraines, certain types of seizures, and Bell's Palsy can mimic stroke symptoms quite closely. Bell's Palsy, for example, causes sudden weakness in facial muscles, making one side of the face droop. It's critical to get a proper diagnosis quickly as the treatments are very different.

At a good hospital, they always check for several things if you come in with stroke-like symptoms. It could be something like a transient ischemic attack (TIA), which is like a 'mini-stroke' but also needs immediate attention. My advice is always to clearly describe all your symptoms to the doctor and ask them about the different possibilities.

Once, after a really intense workout, I got this super weird headache and my left arm felt numb. I legit thought I was having a stroke, panicked big time. Turns out, it was just extreme dehydration and a muscle cramp. Still, scary AF, man. Didn't wait, went to the clinic.

My neighbor had a very high fever with some kind of infection, and she started having slurred speech and weakness on one side. Everyone thought it was a stroke, but it was due to the severe infection affecting her brain. These situations are very serious, so if there are any stroke-like signs, please go to the emergency room immediately.

Oh, this question makes me anxious! I always worry about these things. I've heard sometimes extreme stress or a severe panic attack can make your body feel all weird, like one side is weak or you can't speak properly. It's so confusing and scary, I think it's always best to just get it checked out by a professional.
