What liver condition causes itching?

My mother has been experiencing really intense itching all over her body lately, especially at night, and we can't figure out why. She doesn't have any skin rashes or allergies. Could this itching be a symptom of some underlying liver condition?

Please don't ignore itching, especially if it's constant and doesn't have an obvious cause. I once dismissed persistent itching as just dry skin, and it turned out to be a sign of a more serious underlying issue with my liver. Lesson learned: always get unusual symptoms checked by a doctor. Don't make my mistake.

I can't give medical advice, but I've heard from a friend that sometimes liver issues can cause itching. She had something called cholestasis during her pregnancy, and severe itching was one of her main symptoms. So it definitely happens. Always best to check with a doctor if you have symptoms.

Consistent, unexplained itching can indeed be a symptom of various liver conditions, such as cholestasis, primary biliary cholangitis, or even hepatitis. It's often due to bile acids accumulating. Given the potential seriousness, the most efficient approach is to consult a gastroenterologist or hepatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

My bio teacher once told us about jaundice causing itching because of bilirubin buildup. So yeah, definitely some liver problems can make you super itchy. If you're feeling itchy and it's not just mosquitoes, maybe get a check-up, dude.

Yeah man, my cousin had hepatitis for a while, and he was always scratching. He said the doctors told him it's a common symptom for liver problems, especially when bile flow is messed up. So if you're itchy for no reason, get your liver checked, for sure.

Ah, itching! It can be so bothersome. My neighbor, she had liver problems for years, and itching was one of the first signs she noticed. They said it was because of the bile accumulating. So yes, many liver conditions can cause it. Don't worry, but do go to the doctor to find out why it's happening.

Oh, I've heard about this! My aunt had some liver issues, and she used to complain about terrible itching, especially at night. It's usually because of bile salts building up under the skin when the liver isn't working properly. If you're experiencing this, please see a doctor soon, it's not something to ignore.
