What level of liver enzymes is dangerous?

My husband had some blood work done, and his liver enzyme levels came back a bit high. The doctor told him to cut down on certain things. We are quite concerned. At what point are elevated liver enzymes considered dangerous and a cause for real worry?

Liver enzymes like ALT and AST are usually below 40 U/L. If they're elevated, it means liver damage. Anything moderately elevated (2-3 times normal) needs checking, but if they're super high, like hundreds or thousands, it indicates severe, acute liver damage and is very dangerous. Get it checked by a hepatologist immediately, for safety.

Oh, liver enzymes make me so nervous because the liver is so important! I've heard that if ALT and AST are way above 40 U/L, like in the hundreds, it's really dangerous. Has anyone else experienced very high levels? It's so scary to think about what that could mean for your health.

My husband once had high liver enzymes after a medication change, and it was a worry. Doctors say normal is typically under 40 U/L for ALT/AST. If it's very high, like hundreds or thousands, it's quite serious and means liver damage. Don't ignore it; get a proper diagnosis. It's often treatable if caught early.

I was just reading about this! Normal ALT/AST is usually like below 40 U/L. If it goes into the hundreds, that's already concerning. But if it shoots up to thousands, that's super dangerous, like acute liver failure kind of dangerous. It's wild how quickly things can escalate, makes you want to take better care of yourself!

For liver enzymes like ALT and AST, normal is typically below 40 U/L. If they're even a little bit higher, it's worth checking out, but if they're really high, like in the hundreds, or especially thousands, that's a huge red flag and means your liver is in serious trouble. You really need to see a doctor asap for that, don't wait.

I once got a report showing slightly elevated liver enzymes and freaked out, but the doc said it was mild. So don't panic right away! But yes, if your ALT/AST levels are really high, like hundreds or even thousands, that's considered very dangerous and points to serious liver damage. Get it checked without delay, but take a deep breath first.

At Fortis, my doctor always emphasizes that liver enzyme levels can fluctuate. While a normal range for ALT and AST is generally below 40 U/L, very high levels, going into the hundreds or even thousands, are definitely dangerous and indicate significant liver damage or acute injury. You must ask your doctor clearly what your specific levels mean and the urgency of the situation.

I focus on clean eating and staying active for liver health. Normal ALT/AST should be under 40 U/L. If your levels are elevated, like two to three times the normal range, it's a warning. But if they're in the hundreds or even thousands, that's a medical emergency indicating severe liver damage. Please consult a doctor immediately if you see such numbers.
