What lab test shows kidney function?

My doctor mentioned my kidney function might need checking in my next blood test. I'm trying to understand what they look for. What lab test generally shows kidney function?

Since I have diabetes, I have to get my Kidney Function Test (KFT) done regularly to check creatinine and urea levels. Keeping blood sugar strictly under control is very important to protect the kidneys from damage.

It's called a KFT or Kidney Function Test! They just want to make sure your internal filters are doing their job perfectly. It is a quick pinch of a needle and you are done, simple!

I manage my thyroid with daily medication and get my kidney function tested as part of my regular checkups. You should ask for a KFT and Serum Creatinine test. Always show the reports to your doctor to see if any dosage needs adjusting.

My doctor orders a Kidney Function Test (KFT) for me every year now. It checks creatinine and uric acid to see how much wear and tear my body has accumulated. Just go get the blood test done, it's better to know than to guess.

Just book a Kidney Function Test (KFT) package from any standard local lab. It usually costs around 300 to 500 rupees and includes creatinine, urea, and uric acid. It's very affordable and gives peace of mind.

Is the Kidney Function Test (KFT) painful or does it require fasting? My doctor wrote it because of some leg swelling, and I am honestly very scared about what the creatinine levels might show. Has anyone else been through this?
