What is type 1.5 diabetes mellitus?

My doctor mentioned 'Type 1.5 diabetes mellitus' after some tests, and I'm a bit confused. I only knew about Type 1 and Type 2. Could someone explain what Type 1.5 diabetes mellitus is?

Oh, Type 1.5 diabetes? I was just researching different types of diabetes the other day! It's also called LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults). From what I read, it's an autoimmune form but develops slower than Type 1, and in adults, not kids. It's interesting how complex these conditions are.

Type 1.5 diabetes, also known as LADA, is a form of autoimmune diabetes that appears in adulthood. While insulin is often needed, maintaining physical activity is still very important for overall health and blood sugar management. Regular brisk walks, or other exercises cleared by your doctor, can be very beneficial. Keep moving!

Type 1.5 diabetes? Never heard it called that before, but I know it as LADA. My uncle was diagnosed with it. He thought it was Type 2 at first because he's an adult, but turns out it was autoimmune, like Type 1 but slower. So yeah, gotta be careful and get the right diagnosis, man.

Type 1.5 diabetes mellitus, or LADA, is basically an autoimmune diabetes that hits adults. It means your body attacks its own insulin-producing cells, but slower than Type 1. For anyone with diabetes, regardless of type, diet and exercise are key. Not just for managing sugar, but for overall strength. Focus on whole foods and consistent movement. That's the foundation.

Type 1.5 diabetes mellitus is also known as LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults). It's an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system attacks insulin-producing cells, but it has a slower progression than typical Type 1. Because it's often mistaken for Type 2, it's absolutely vital to get proper diagnostic tests, like autoantibody tests, from a specialist. Don't self-diagnose.

Type 1.5 diabetes is essentially an adult-onset form of autoimmune diabetes, also called LADA. It needs careful management like Type 1. While a healthy diet and lifestyle are always good, for something as complex as diabetes, especially an autoimmune type, home remedies won't cut it. You must see a doctor and follow their prescribed treatment plan consistently.
