What is the right position to sleep?

I often wake up with neck pain and my physio told me it might be my sleeping position. What is considered the right position to sleep to avoid such issues?

I had a severe neck spasm that ended up compressing a nerve because of a bad sleeping posture. Please don't ignore chronic morning stiffness. If you have pain, consult an orthopedic doctor or a physical therapist for personalized advice.

I used to sleep on my stomach and always woke up with lower back aches. Once I switched to sleeping on my side with a small pillow between my knees, my back pain improved significantly. That's just what worked for me.

My grandmother always told us to sleep on our left side to improve digestion and avoid sleeping on our stomach. However, when I had shoulder pain, my doctor advised sleeping on my back with a thin pillow. Both advices have their own place.

If you suffer from acidity or reflux after a heavy vegetarian meal, sleeping on your left side actually helps prevent acid from rising up. Keeping a light gap between dinner and sleep is also equally important for a comfortable night.

Look, there is no single 'magic' position. Sleeping on your back keeps your spine straight, and sleeping on your left side is good for acidity. Just don't sleep on your stomach because it ruins your neck alignment. Keep it simple.

Honestly, sleeping on my back with an orthopedic pillow was a game changer for my neck strain. I used to curl up like a ball, which made me feel stiff in the morning. Try keeping your spine flat, it really helps.

Beta, our shastras and elders always recommend sleeping on the left side (Vamkukshi) because it is very beneficial for digestion. Also, make sure your head is not pointing towards the north direction while sleeping, as it affects peace of mind.

I kept changing my pillows and sleeping positions for months to cure my regular headaches, ignoring that it was actually a cervical spine issue. Please don't keep self-managing if you have persistent pain; get a doctor's checkup done.
