What is the main function of the thyroid gland?

My doctor mentioned my thyroid levels were a bit off in my last check-up. I'm trying to understand more about it. What is the main function of the thyroid gland?

Having lived with hypo thyroid for 8 years, I can tell you it basically runs your body's engine speed. It manages your weight, body temperature, and energy levels. My tip: take your thyroid pill first thing in the morning on an empty stomach without fail.

It controls metabolic rate, which is heavily connected to how your body processes energy. Since I manage my diabetes, I know how easily metabolic hormones affect blood sugar levels. Be very careful with diet claims online and always test regularly.

It basically controls your metabolism, like how fast your body burns food for fuel. When it acts up, you either feel super tired or lose/gain weight like crazy. Pretty crazy how one tiny neck gland does all that.

The thyroid gland controls metabolism, plain and simple. Do not buy those 'thyroid cure' herbal powders on Instagram that promise to fix it in 30 days. Only a proper blood test and a doctor can tell you what your body needs.

This butterfly-shaped gland governs our metabolism and inner balance. Along with your regular medicines, practicing Ujjayi pranayama and gentle neck stretches has personally helped me maintain my energy levels and calm the nervous system.

Its primary function is managing metabolism through thyroid hormones. When I went to Fortis, my doctor explained how even minor changes in TSH can affect sleep and heart rate. Please get a proper consult instead of guessing.
