What is the difference between core and deep sleep?

I'm trying to improve my sleep quality and have heard about core sleep and deep sleep. Are they the same thing, or is there a difference between them?

Let's be direct. Core sleep is a term some smartwatches use to combine light sleep and REM sleep where your brain is active and dreaming. Deep sleep is the actual physical recovery phase where your heart rate drops and muscles repair. If you feel tired all day, stop staring at your phone and get a medical sleep study done.

From a physiological perspective, core sleep is the baseline sleep your body absolutely needs to function, often tracking as light and REM sleep on modern wearales. Deep sleep, or slow-wave sleep, is crucial for tissue growth and immune recovery. For any persistent fatigue issues, consulting a somnologist or sleep specialist is always the best path.

Core sleep toh woh hai jo hume rojana chahiye thik se jeene ke liye, jisme halke sapne aate hain. Deep sleep yaane gehri neend, jab shareer ki thakan door hoti hai aur agle din ke liye taqat milti hai. Agar neend thik se nahi aa rahi ho, toh raat ko dudh peekar soyein aur doctor babu se salah lein.

I struggled with chronic fatigue and studied this deeply. Core sleep is the basic block of sleep (including light and REM) that keeps your brain functional. Deep sleep is the deep physical restoration phase. My tip: cut out caffeine after 2 PM and keep a fixed wake-up time, it drastically improves your deep sleep percentage.

I used to panic looking at my fitness tracker showing very little deep sleep and thought I had a sleep disorder! But my doctor reassured me that core sleep, which includes light stages, is also very normal and essential. Don't stress too much over tracker percentages, as long as you wake up feeling fresh.

In our family, my mother always says sleeping early before 10 PM gives the best quality of rest. Core sleep is the essential duration of sleep that includes light stages, while deep sleep is when the body truly heals itself. While traditional advice of having a quiet room is good, do consult a doctor if you are having constant insomnia.
