What is the difference between angina and a heart attack?

My neighbor recently experienced chest pain, and the doctor said it was angina, not a heart attack. What's the actual difference between angina and a heart attack? I thought they were similar.

Honestly, I had this same doubt last year when I felt tight chest pain while climbing stairs. In angina, the blood flow just reduces temporarily, so the pain goes away when you rest or take medicine. But during my actual heart attack, the pain was severe, constant, and did not stop even after resting. Please don't ignore any chest pain, doc checkup is absolutely must.

My father went through this recently, and it was so scary for us. Angina is like a warning sign from your body that the heart needs more oxygen during heavy work. But a heart attack is an emergency where the blood supply is completely blocked. It is always better to get a proper ECG and consult a cardiologist if anyone is feeling chest pressure.

At 55, every little chest burn feels like the final call, but my doc cleared this up for me. Think of angina as a traffic jam where cars move slowly, so your heart struggles for a bit. A heart attack is a complete roadblock where things start getting damaged. If you get chest pain that spreads to the arm or jaw, stop reading online and head straight to the hospital.

While angina is temporary pain due to narrowed arteries, a heart attack is when a clot completely cuts off the blood flow. Along with medical treatment, keeping your cholesterol low with a clean, low-oil vegetarian diet makes a huge difference. But please remember, emergency chest pain requires immediate hospital care, not diet changes.

I literally spend hours searching about this because my dad has high BP. Angina usually gets better in 5-10 minutes with rest, but a heart attack doesn't stop and is often accompanied by sweating and breathing issues. It is so terrifying to think about. Please visit a doctor soon to get a clear diagnosis and stay safe!

I remember the absolute panic when my husband was diagnosed with angina; I couldn't sleep for weeks thinking it was a heart attack. Angina means the heart is struggling but not permanently damaged yet, whereas a heart attack causes actual muscle damage. It is an emotionally draining journey, so please talk to a doctor who can guide you and give you peace of mind.
