What is the causes of thyroid disease?

My wife was recently diagnosed with a thyroid disorder, and we're both trying to understand it better. What usually causes thyroid disease? Is it genetic or related to lifestyle?

It's totally normal to feel anxious when trying to understand something like thyroid disease, especially with all the confusing info out there. It's basically when your thyroid gland isn't making enough or too much hormones. Don't worry, it's very manageable once diagnosed.

Thyroid disorders, whether it's hyper (overactive) or hypo (underactive), usually stem from autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's or Graves' disease. Sometimes it's genetic, sometimes it's iodine deficiency or excess. Don't self-diagnose, get a TSH test done. It's quite common and manageable.

Thyroid issues can be complex. Often it's an autoimmune thing, like Hashimoto's for low thyroid or Graves' for high. Sometimes it's genetics or iodine deficiency. While diet and lifestyle can help manage symptoms, for diagnosis and serious symptoms, a doctor's consultation is key.

Thyroid problems are quite common these days, aiyo. My aunt has it, she says it's often genetic or sometimes the body's own immune system acting up. Doctor told her stress can also be a factor. Always best to listen to your doctor and take medicines regularly, beta.

Thyroid issues are quite common! 😊 Mostly it's autoimmune (your body fights itself) or sometimes iodine imbalance. Stress and genetics also play a role. Good news is, it's very manageable once you know what's happening! Just get tested! ✨

Having dealt with thyroid myself, I can tell you it's often an autoimmune condition where your body attacks its own thyroid gland. For some, it's genetic. Stress can definitely trigger or worsen it. Get your TSH, T3, T4 levels checked. Once diagnosed, medication works wonders, just stick to it.

My endocrinologist explained that thyroid disease often has an autoimmune basis, like Hashimoto's (underactive) or Graves' (overactive). She also mentioned genetic predisposition, iodine imbalance (deficiency or excess), and sometimes even certain medications or pregnancy can cause it. It's complex, so getting a full panel of tests is crucial.
