My son used to snore a lot, and the pediatrician said sleeping on his side or back is better than on his stomach for breathing. For adults too, I think it's often about aligning the spine. Try putting a pillow between your knees if you're a side sleeper, it helps with back pain.
It's totally understandable to worry about sleeping positions, especially if you have pain or just want good rest. Don't stress too much about finding a 'perfect' position. The key is what feels comfortable and doesn't cause any strain. Listen to your body, it knows best.
Honestly, I just crash wherever I feel comfy after a long day of classes! But I've heard sleeping on your back or side is generally better for your spine than on your stomach. My roomie swears by sleeping on his side with a pillow between his knees for comfort. Whatever gets you good sleep, I guess!
For me, sleeping on my side with a firm pillow works best. If I sleep on my back, I sometimes snore, and stomach sleeping gives me neck pain. So, side sleeping is my go-to. Also, invest in a good pillow, makes a huge difference!
