What is the best over the counter pain relief?

Sometimes after heavy lifting, my back acts up and I need immediate relief. I don't want to always rely on strong prescriptions. What is the best over-the-counter pain relief option for muscle aches and strains?

When it comes to OTC pain relief, the 'best' option truly depends on what's causing your pain and your individual health. At a good hospital, doctors always advise patients to consult them before self-medicating. Generally, for fever and mild pain, paracetamol is often recommended. For inflammatory pain like sprains or muscle aches, NSAIDs like ibuprofen might be suggested. But always get clear medical advice first.

My doctor explained that OTC pain relief falls into a few categories. For general pain, fever, or headaches, paracetamol is often the safest starting point. For pain with inflammation (like sprains, period pain), NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen can be more effective. However, NSAIDs should be used cautiously, especially if you have stomach issues or high blood pressure. Always read the contraindications.

Paracetamol is generally effective for common pain and fever. Ibuprofen works well for inflammatory pain like muscle aches.

For OTC pain relief, simple paracetamol is quite affordable and works for most common aches. Ibuprofen is also readily available for inflammatory pain. No need to go for expensive combination pills unless specifically recommended by a doctor. Save your money for important health check-ups if the pain persists.

Best OTC pain relief? The one that works so I can finally get some sleep! 😂 For me, a simple paracetamol for a headache usually does the trick. But if it's a deep body ache, sometimes I just surrender to the pain and hope sleep fixes it. Seriously though, if it's more than a minor ache, get a doctor's advice.
