What is stroke in medical terms?

My father recently had a stroke, and I'm trying to understand the medical terms surrounding it. Can someone explain what 'stroke' means in medical terms? What exactly happens?

Honestly, I just Googled this for a presentation. It's basically when blood flow to your brain stops or gets really bad. Like, brain cells start dying. Super serious stuff, dude.

Haan, stroke matlab jab dimag ko khoon theek se nahi milta na. Ya toh koi artery block ho jaati hai, ya phir phat jaati hai. Toh dimag ke cells kharab hone lagte hain. Bahut dhyan rakhna padta hai iska.

Yes, it's when blood supply to the brain is cut off. FAST (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency) is a good way to remember the signs.

It's natural to feel anxious when you hear words like 'stroke'. From what I understand, it's a medical emergency where the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted, causing brain cells to die. It's definitely something to be very aware of.

Medically speaking, a stroke occurs when there is a disruption of blood flow to the brain, leading to brain cell death. This can be due to an ischemic stroke (blockage) or a hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding). For a precise understanding and any concerns, it's always best to consult a medical professional.
