What is sports induced asthma?

I've started running marathons recently, and during intense training, I often get this tightness in my chest and a wheezing sound. My friend, who is also a runner, said it could be 'sports induced asthma.' Can someone explain what that is?

My son has sports-induced asthma. It means he coughs and wheezes during or after physical activity. We make sure he uses his inhaler pre-exercise and warms up properly. It's manageable, but don't ignore it; get a doctor's opinion for sure.

It's natural to feel concerned if you experience breathing difficulties during exercise. Sports-induced asthma, or EIB, is exactly that—asthma symptoms triggered by physical activity. Getting a diagnosis helps ease anxiety and gives you a clear plan to manage it.

I thought I was seriously ill when I'd get breathless during workouts, but my doc said it's just sports-induced asthma. It's common! With a quick puff of an inhaler before exercise, I'm absolutely fine now. Don't panic, just get it checked.

Sports-induced asthma is officially called Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB). It's a temporary narrowing of the airways triggered by vigorous physical activity. Pre-exercise bronchodilators are often prescribed. Always consult your doctor for a confirmed diagnosis and personalized management.

I used to feel so frustrated when I'd try to play sports and my chest would tighten up and I'd start coughing uncontrollably. It really affected my confidence. That's sports-induced asthma for you. It's a real struggle sometimes, but knowing what it is helps a lot.
