What is small stroke called?

My neighbour was talking about someone having a 'small stroke'. She couldn't recall the proper medical term, but she asked me what a 'small stroke' is called. Can someone help me understand the correct medical terminology for this?

I totally get it, medical terms can be so confusing and scary to hear. It is commonly called a Transient Ischemic Attack or TIA, and it basically means a temporary blockage of blood to the brain.

Hey, it's called a mini-stroke or TIA. Don't stress too much, but definitely don't ignore it either—just get your family member checked by a doctor quickly to be safe.

It is called a TIA. Since diabetes increases the risk of vascular issues, we have to keep our blood sugar levels strictly managed to prevent these mini-strokes.

I read it is called a TIA or mini-stroke. Has anyone else's relative had this and recovered completely without any permanent damage? I'm quite worried.

My father had what they call a TIA last year and we panicked like crazy thinking it was a full stroke. The doctor put him on blood thinners, and he is doing absolutely fine now. Just get medical help on time.

It is known as a TIA. Along with the doctor's medicines, switching to a low-salt, high-fiber vegetarian diet is very helpful in managing blood pressure and preventing future episodes.
