What is sleep regression in babies?

My 6-month-old baby, who was a great sleeper, is suddenly waking up every hour. My friends are saying it's 'sleep regression in babies'. Can someone explain what this phenomenon is?

True, it is completely real and exhausting. What helped me during my daughter's regression was keeping her daytime naps on a very strict schedule so she didn't get overtired.

It is basically a phase where a baby who was sleeping nicely suddenly starts waking up like a newborn again! 😴 Don't worry, it usually lasts just a few weeks and then they get back on track. Stay strong!

Honestly, don't just assume it is a normal phase if the baby is crying in pain or has a fever. I once ignored my son's sleep issues thinking it was just regression, but it turned out to be a severe ear infection. Better to consult your pediatrician to rule other things out.

It can really drain your energy as a parent. I used to put my baby in the stroller and go for a brisk 30-minute walk in the evening to clear my head and get him sleepy, which worked wonders for both of us.

We went through this with all three of our kids back in the day. It feels like the end of the world when you aren't sleeping, but trust me, this phase passes very quickly and they grow up before you know it.

This is just a small step in their growth, so try to keep your mind calm and peaceful. When you are relaxed, the baby also catches that energy and settles down faster. Take care of your health too.
