What is mash liver?

My doctor told me I might have 'MASH liver', and I'm a bit worried. I don't really understand what that means for my health. Could someone please explain what MASH liver is?

Please don't search for terms like 'mash liver' on random forums and try self-treatment. This is actually a medical term related to fatty liver changes, MASH is the new name for NASH. Go to a proper gastroenterologist and get an ultrasound done rather than reading online.

I was reading about this yesterday and got so scared! It stands for Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis, which is basically liver inflammation due to fat. Has anyone else here been diagnosed with this after a routine scan? What did your doctor advise?

MASH is basically the advanced stage of fatty liver where there is inflammation and some cellular damage. It is usually linked to metabolic issues, so regular exercise and cutting down on processed sugars really helps. Make sure to consult your physician for a structured plan.

My husband's doctor at Apollo explained that MASH is a serious form of fatty liver where the liver starts swelling up. You should not ignore this at all. Go to a good hospital, get your liver function tests done, and ask the specialist for the exact treatment plan.

I completely panicked when my son's report showed liver inflammation signs, thinking it was something untreatable. But actually, with simple lifestyle modifications and the right doctor's guidance, it is quite manageable. Just stay calm and get a professional opinion.

It is just the new medical name for what we used to call NASH liver! Basically, it means excess fat is causing swelling in the liver cells. Don't worry too much, with a healthy diet and active routine, it can be managed well. 👍

My brother neglected his fatty liver and it slowly progressed to this stage, which caused severe fatigue and other health complications later. This is not something to take lightly at all. Please consult a specialist immediately and follow their instructions strictly.
