What is latent tb?

My cousin recently got a health check-up, and they said something about 'latent TB'. I thought TB was always active. What is latent TB, and does it mean she has the disease?

Latent TB means you have the TB bacteria in your body, but it is asleep and not making you sick or infectious. Don't believe random websites telling you that raw garlic or ginger will cure it. You must get a proper Mantoux or IGRA test and take the complete course of preventive medicines prescribed by a doctor.

Latent TB means the TB germs are sleeping in your body, so you have no cough or fever right now. While you can drink turmeric milk and eat healthy food to keep your immunity strong, you must see a doctor. If your immunity drops, this sleeping TB can turn into active disease.

Latent TB occurs when you are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but your immune system keeps the bacteria under control. My pulmonologist emphasized that you won't have symptoms and can't spread it, but taking a course of preventive therapy is vital to ensure it never activates.

When my test came positive for latent TB, I cried for days thinking I would infect my family. But my doctor explained that it is not active, I am not contagious at all, and it is highly treatable. If you are feeling scared or anxious about it, please know that you are completely safe and this is very common in India.

Haan, latent TB ka matlab hai ki bacteria body mein chup kar baitha hai par abhi active nahi hai, na hi aap kisi ko bimar kar sakte ho. Isme koi symptoms nahi hote, par doctor se checkup karana zaroori hai taaki yeh baad mein pareshani na kare. Tension mat lo, bilkul theek ho jaoge.
