What is kidney pain a symptom of?

Lately, I've been feeling some discomfort in my side, and I'm wondering if it could be kidney pain. What are the common symptoms that kidney pain might be indicating? I want to know if I should see a doctor.

It can be a symptom of kidney stones, an infection, or even something more serious. I ignored my side pain for months thinking it was just a muscle pull, and it turned out to be a massive stone that almost blocked my kidney. Please get an ultrasound done immediately.

It usually points to kidney stones or a urinary tract infection. While drinking coconut water and warm water can help soothe mild discomfort, severe or persistent pain needs a proper doctor's visit and medical tests.

Kidney pain is commonly a symptom of kidney stones, a urinary tract infection (UTI), or a kidney infection.

Haan na, kidney pain is mostly due to stones or infection. It is very painful and happens in the upper back or side, not like normal backache. Better to consult a doctor quickly instead of waiting.

It's usually a sign of either a kidney stone trying to pass or a bad infection in the urinary tract. My roommate had this last semester and was crying from pain, so definitely don't take it lightly.

It is a symptom of not drinking enough water and letting stones or infections build up while we work 14-hour days! Seriously though, it means your kidneys need immediate medical attention, so go get it checked.
