What is kidney failure called?

My friend mentioned his father is undergoing treatment for what he called a specific type of 'kidney failure' but the name slipped my mind. Are there different names for kidney failure, depending on its cause or type?

In the medical world, it is gently referred to as End-Stage Renal Disease or ESRD, and sometimes acute renal failure when it happens suddenly. Keep your mind peaceful and trust the treatments available.

I was just looking this up for my biology assignment, and doctors mostly call it End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or renal failure. If it's sudden, they call it Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

It is officially called End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or renal failure! 🩺 Don't worry too much about the scary name, doctors have amazing ways to manage it these days! 😊

I think it is generally called End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or chronic kidney failure. I'm not a medical expert, so I would suggest discussing your specific diagnosis with a doctor to be sure.

I keep hearing terms like ESRD and chronic kidney failure, and it makes me so nervous. Does anyone else get super anxious trying to understand all these different medical names on lab reports?
