What is in sunscreen that causes cancer?

I'm very careful about using sunscreen, especially since I'm out in the sun a lot for my work. But recently I heard some talk about certain chemicals in sunscreen potentially causing cancer. Can someone explain what these ingredients are?

Hey, don't worry too much! Some old news was about benzene contamination in certain batches, but normal sunscreens are actually tested to protect us from skin cancer, so keep using your daily SPF.

A few reports mentioned chemical filters like oxybenzone or benzene impurities, but standard sunscreens are safe. Buying a basic certified sunscreen is much cheaper than running around for expensive skin specialist consultations later.

I totally get it, seeing these scary articles online makes you want to throw away all your skincare! It was mostly about trace benzene in some spray sunscreens, but regular lotions are totally fine and keep your skin safe.

I used to worry about chemical sunscreens too, so I switched to mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide. It’s much safer for sensitive skin and doesn't have those controversial chemicals.

I read that certain chemical ingredients like oxybenzone raised concerns for some people. Personally, I just prefer physical sunscreens containing titanium dioxide because they suit my skin better without any irritation.

There are so many random WhatsApp forwards about sunscreen being toxic, but they are mostly fake. Talk to a real dermatologist to understand what chemical or physical blockers are actually safe for your skin type.

Look boss, sunscreen itself doesn't cause cancer, it actually prevents it. Some cheap brands had chemical impurities like benzene, so just buy a good quality, dermat-tested one and don't stress over internet rumors.
